Our Team

TeamWork is a family business! Meet local Bloomington trainers and owners Rod and Erin.

Rod Root

Rod has been training in athletic performance and personal fitness in Bloomington since 2010. His clientele range in diversity from Division 1 and professional athletes to weight losing hopefuls who just need help getting in shape.

Certified by USA Weightlifting under the USOC, Functional Movement Systems (FMS), and the International Coaching Association, Rod has the qualifications to train the human body at any level.

Rod enjoys reading books on Fitness, Nutrition and Entrepreneurialism. He's a dedicated father to Carolyn and Winnie and partner in life with the beautiful Erin Parks.

erin Parks

Erin and Rod met at Rod's former gym where she was a client working on her own fitness goals. The two made eyes and it was true love. The two decided to start TeamWork with each other's help in 2013.

As partners in life and in business Erin is the glue that holds it all together. With a strong background in business development and start up strategy much of Erin's role is on the business and marketing end.

She's a committed community member, proud mama and a solid trainer in her own right. In her spare time Erin makes beautiful jewelry, participates in theater and studies world religions.

Jordan bayse

Jordan's background is in youth and high school basketball. He focuses on student athlete development and coaching.

Marcus Thimios

Marcus is a graduate from IU with a degree in exercise sciences. He is from Cary, Illinois and enjoys music and staying fit. As the Lead Performance Coach he helps in training Teamwork members and getting them the best results.

The Five F's

Performance for us is not about more workouts. We believe that our physical bodies are connected to everything we do in life. How well we function during the day, our brain power, our energy levels, our quality of sleep, our digestive and immune system all hinge on our performance. Yes, we want to look good and be strong too, but we want to feel good and move well for BEST RESULTS. That's why we stick to five main areas of focus.

Food

Strength training without eating right is just spinning your wheels. Most people treat diet and exercise like a bank account. They think that as long as you add more money (training) then you can afford to spend more (junk food). That's a whole lot of effort for poor results. Instead, we think of food like an investment. Add ketogenic or performance nutrition to your training and it acts like compound interest maximizing the results of the effort you're making.

Fun

Most of the time the reason people get training fatigue and drop out of the habit is because they get tired of the same old stuff, they don't have a buddy and everything starts to feel like a grind. At Teamwork we make the sessions engaging and dynamic. We come up with programs you can master, challenging your brain, but also changing things up so you can see your progress. Plus at Teamwork, we're all workout buddies!

Function

Physical training does more than help you gain muscle. It really provides value to your daily life. Whether you're a student athlete training to take it to the next level, a desk jockey with chronic back problems or an on your feet on the go person you need your body to perform. Our knowledge and programming has been developed with longevity in mind.  Your cells will be healthier creating a good foundation for great potential.

Family

TeamWork is the ideal place for families. A large and important part of our community are our student athletes ranging from middle schoolers to seniors in high school preparing for college athletics. Our kid safe training promotes overall wellness, scholastic achievements and respect to parents and adults. Many of our adult clients are the parents of these athletes who see the great benefits of TeamWork translating into high performance on the court, in the classroom and at home. They see such great results with their kids that they want it for themselves too!

We want your life to feel great. Flow is a “mental state operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.” This supreme sense of perfect homeostasis is where we've set our aim. We believe you get there in two ways. Motivating you to what gives you energy and focus, and the second is by getting your body in what's called a state of ketosis through diet and the Keto OS. These give your body mental control void of fatigue or confusion.

Why?  A coach will be there to personalize and adequately push you in a program designed for creating lean muscle mass--a necessity for healthy athletes and adults.  Of course, you can find online programs in abundance, but what you can't find is a smart coach willing to learn about how you move, what you need to get better, and the best way for you to get you there faster.  We continually monitor, progressively load, and give exercises for the fitness level and goals.  If the goal is RESULTS, Teamwork Bloomington is the ONLY gym willing to go the extra distance for you.

.Our Teamwork Bloomington nutrition program is not about meal prep and following strict meal plans.  It is about changing how you ACT!  Your nutrition needs are highly individual.  You just need a coach to measure and adjust along your fitness journey, and that is our difference!  We work with your changing and evolving body and mind, but we also hold you accountable for your goals.  Our nutrition comes with every membership.  Ready to change how you eat?

 We do follow a personalized ketogenic nutrition model yielding 12-15 pounds of weight loss in 6 weeks and 20-60 in a year's time. Learn more about Ketosis.

At most gyms, you pay your monthly fees and if you don't show up, no one knows and no one cares. Not at Teamwork! We keep you accountable through check-ins, social media, e-mail, and personal calls.

Scheduled Workouts

  • Schedule your Teamwork Bloomington session online up to an hour ahead of time right from your phone or computer.  We don't want to discourage you from your fitness.  Schedules can be busy, so we accommodate life's hustle.
  • Get automatic updates and reminders via email and your google calendar.

Fitness Coaching

  • While you workout we keep you focused and intense, coaching you up along the way.
  • We make sure you finish your workout schedule, work up a sweat and feel the burn!

Positive Encouragement

  • We want you to feel confident about yourself and your body but we're tough on bad ideas.
  • Teaching the exception makes it the rule so we'll never lie to you about poor health choices.
